Euregenas at Spanish Society of Psychogeriatry XX Congress

The XX Congress of SEPG (Spanish Society of Psychogeriatry) was held in Zamora (Spain) on 21-23 November 2013. The event focused on the theme “From Innovation to Care” with the participation of social and technological entities from Spain and Portugal, as well the representation of European networks. More than 300 participants, representatives of the social and health sector participated. Suicide prevention programmes were presented during the first day: Mercedes Pérez López, trainer on Euregenas training courses, presented the Euregenas project as a European answer to suicide prevention on Psychogeriatric patients. Mercedes Navío Acosta, Coordinator of the Regional Office of Mental Health issues from the Madrid Region, explained an interesting regional programme developed in Madrid concerning suicide prevention targeting older people with suicide ideation. What is Euregenas?

The Euregenas project brings together 11 regions with diverse experiences in suicide prevention with the aim to contribute to the prevention of suicidality in Europe through the development and implementation of strategies for suicide prevention at regional level that can be of use to the European Community as examples of good practice.
